I have a new Hero !! Her name is Liz and she lives in White River Jct. VT.

Liz works evenings. A couple weeks ago, she was coming home from work and the evening was very quiet. She
heard the most sorrowful sound she has ever heard in her life. Realizing it came from a house that she knew was
vacant, she broke in. What she found horrified her. The only thing in the empty house was a small wire crate.
Inside was the source of the sounds - the most emaciated, filthy, sore-covered pug she had ever seen !!!!
Scooping him up in her arms, she rushed to her friend , who is a vet. Liz was told that if she hadn't rescued the
pug that night, he would have passed away before the next morning.

Many of the sores required sedation to attend to so Liz took the opportunity to have him neutered and brought
up to date on all his shots ( just in case ). A lengthy regimen of medicated baths and a special diet has worked
wonders. Even though Liz knew she couldn't keep the pug because of her lease, she gladly paid all his medical
bills. Not wanting to surrender him to a shelter for fear he would end up in a similar situation , or euthanized, Liz
called PRoNE.

Rallying to the call was our own volunteer Liz Rand. Liz immediately went and picked up the little pug, whom she
has named Buddy. Liz Rand reports that Buddy is a very cute, smart boy, still a bit thin and  his coat is becoming
beautiful !!   Buddy is also very energetic - the vet estimates his age at approximately 1.5 years old. We have a
special family in mind for Buddy--hopefully they will fall in love with him and he will have the life every pug
deserves !!!

A BIG THANK YOU to both Liz's !!!!!!
